Kayak Adventure on Lake Inari

Lake Inari, with its crystal-clear waters, is known for its rugged rocky shores, thousands of islands, and large open water areas. Finland's third largest lake is a premier destination for open-water kayaking adventures.

On this full-day trip, we explore the southern reaches of the lake by kayak, paddling in the shelter of islands and along the edges of open water areas, with breaks along the way as needed.

We set out from Veskoniemi, and conditions permitting, we'll make a stop at the ice cave of Korkia-Maura, where the ice doesn’t typically melt even during summer. On this trip, you'll receive expert guidance and personal coaching in a small group setting. It's a great opportunity to practise paddling safely and develop your skills in a real open-water environment. Learning, enjoying nature, and sharing the experience all go hand in hand.

This trip is suited to paddlers who already have a foundation of basic skills — at least a EPP 1 (Euro Paddle Pass) competency award, or equivalent experience. A good level of general fitness and a readiness to spend a full day on the water are otherwise all you need. Before setting out, we'll go over the paddling fundamentals and equipment together. During the trip, we paddle approximately 15 km on stable touring kayaks.

Please note that participants must be able to swim and must be at least 15 years of age. Participants under 18 may only join when accompanied by a guardian or with written permission from a guardian.

What to bring: Dress for the weather in suitable outdoor clothing, and pack a change of clothes in case you get wet, along with an extra warm layer for breaks. Bring sunglasses, a hat, plenty to drink, and a packed lunch. Shoes may get wet when landing onshore, so we recommend bringing a separate pair of light, water-friendly footwear for paddling.

What's included: Guide services, kayak, and all paddling equipment. On request, we can also lend you a dry bag for spare clothes, a waterproof phone case, and a sunglass strap.
